The second single from my sophomore EP "Gossip From A Coastal Town"

This song was written whilst looking across the sea from my home in Cornwall at little houses glowing in the night – thinking about how people that once lit up your whole room, over time become just little lights in the distance.

I wanted it to reflect the sound and magic of coastal towns so we recorded live ocean sounds from my local beach that now sit under the entire mix and we got a local shanty band (shanty bass!) to record backing vocals which you can hear in the final chorus and outro.

It was written by me, produced by CJ Pandit and mixed by Jamie Ward.
It features backing vocals from Shanty Bass and mandolin from Samuel Glazebrook.

I hope you like it!

lyrics

I swear I thought I saw a glow, from your house across the bay.
I wondered if you had come home, then I wondered why you didn't say.
Oh isn't it strange how everything changes.

I swear I thought I saw a flush, from the skin beneath your cheek.
I wondered if you'd heard a joke, then I wondered if the joke was me.
Oh isn't it strange how everything changes yet stays the same.

Cos when I left there was vinyl spinning and indents on the couch, I feel the shape of you I still feel your lips on my mouth.
People singing, but they make no sound, I hear the noise of it, it rattles round my head even now. Aching hearts and tangled bones, god I still reach out for you even when I'm alone it's just vinyl spinning and indents on the couch, I feel the shape of you, even though its over now.

I thought I was a damaged girl, that this cut too deep beneath my skin.
A paper cut to someone else, was to me so staggering.
But in writing it down, it's like I finally worked it out.
And isn't it strange, how I can love you and still walk away?

Cos when I left there was vinyl spinning and indents on the couch, I feel the shape of you I still feel your lips on my mouth.
People singing, but they make no words come out. I hear the noise of it, it rattles round my head even now. Aching hearts and tangled bones, god I still reach out for you even when I'm alone it's just vinyl spinnin and indents on the couch, I feel the shape of you, even though its over now.

God I still reach out for you even when I'm alone.
